Fiber Optics as a Sculpting Medium
Enface is a series of works exploring fiber optics as a sculpting material. The typical arrangement between static viewer and static artwork is the paradigm which the works in this series aim to challenge. In these sculptures, an image is created by manipulating a glowing optical cable and by “drawing” with three-dimensional loops. However, in order to fully comprehend and recognize it one has to stand “face to face” to the piece, since the outlines change as one moves around the sculpture. Additionally, each piece possesses two states of expression, showing one image in bright lighting conditions and another in dim light.
Public Installations
A series of full scale temporary installations exploring the fundamental relationship between architectural space, their function and technology. The concept of existing in one place is no longer valid when we look at the current and ever-changing state of technology. Communication and “being” in a space has changed from a time when we were connected physically or visually into being seamlessly integrated into the world of information. Voice, knowledge, entertainment from around the globe can now exist in any space and any room. For example, two individuals can instantly and in real time exist in one place while being in different buildings, cities and even countries. This global event is altering the notion of the architectural tectonic and its boundaries. The rigid function of the ‘room’ is no longer connected to the actions performed in it.
